Accounts Payable Team Leader
£40,000–£45,000 + Excellent Benefits
Six-Month Fixed-Term Contract
Chippenham | Hybrid Working – Two Days from Home
Are you an experienced Accounts Payable or Transactional Finance Team Leader who can motivate a team, strengthen processes and make an immediate impact?
I am exclusively recruiting for a hands-on Accounts Payable Team Leader to join a successful and people-focused organisation during an exciting period of change.
You will take ownership of the day-to-day performance of a small transactional finance team, ensuring workloads are balanced, deadlines are achieved and financial controls remain strong. You will also play an important role in improving processes and preparing the team for a major finance systems transformation. This is far more than a “keep things ticking over” contract. You will have the autonomy to influence how the team operates, improve performance and leave a genuine legacy.
What will you be doing?
-
Leading, coaching and supporting a small transactional finance team.
-
Managing workloads, priorities and daily deadlines.
-
Monitoring performance against SLAs and KPIs.
-
Acting as the first point of escalation for complex supplier and ledger queries.
-
Overseeing open ledger items, direct debits and Faster Payments.
-
Supporting daily close activities and balance sheet reconciliations.
-
Working closely with the wider finance team to investigate discrepancies.
-
Improving controls, processes and data quality.
-
Supporting the team through a forthcoming SAP implementation.
-
Producing meaningful reporting and performance insight.
What are we looking for?
-
Previous experience leading or supervising a finance team.
-
Strong knowledge of reconciliations, ledgers and financial controls.
-
The confidence to manage performance and resolve difficult issues.
-
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
-
The ability to bring structure and clarity to a busy environment.
-
A positive, proactive and solutions-focused approach.
-
The resilience to lead a team successfully through change.
-
Experience using SAP or supporting a finance systems implementation would be beneficial, but it is not essential.
Why apply?
-
£40,000–£45,000 salary, depending on experience.
-
Hybrid working with Monday and Friday from home.
-
26 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, pro rata.
-
Onsite wellbeing activities, including yoga and massage.
-
Employee recognition and reward programme.
-
Supportive and people-focused working environment.
This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of a team, influence positive change and add a strong six-month leadership assignment to your CV.
